MY CREATIVE JOURNEY SO FAR:

I’m Fran - a brand identity designer and portrait photographer with a love for bold ideas, strong visuals and helping people feel confident showing up as themselves.

My creative path started with a degree in Surface Pattern Design, followed by more than twenty years working across marketing, events, television and branding - both agency-side and in-house. I’ve always been someone who likes to make things happen, sometimes before I fully know how. At 22, I launched a streetwear label with a university friend, designed the brand and logo, trademarked it and took it to Glastonbury. It didn’t become a global fashion empire (we were young and social media didn’t exist yet!), but it opened the door to an incredible marketing and events role in the snowboarding industry - and that’s where my professional career really began.

Since then, my work has taken me in all kinds of unexpected directions. I’ve created campaigns, produced TV content, built brands from the ground up and organised large-scale events across the UK. I even hit pause on “normal life” to live in the Alps for a ski season and travel through Southeast Asia and India - experiences that shaped not just my creativity, but how I see people and stories.

After returning to the UK, I spent time working agency-side before joining a busy marketing team at a television network once my daughter was born. Alongside my roles, I’ve always run creative side projects - from a pop-up photobooth business to my jewellery brand, Shimmy Shimmy Yay! Creativity has never been just one job title for me; it’s always been a mix of ideas, experimentation and building things that connect with people.

In 2020, after being furloughed and then made redundant - my third redundancy in a row - I decided to stop waiting for the “right moment” and went fully self-employed. It felt like a risk at the time, but it also felt completely right. Since then, I’ve built a business that brings together everything I love: brand strategy, design, photography and creative direction.

Over the years, my career has included some brilliantly surreal moments - taking 20 tons of real snow to a summer music festival to build a sledging slope (and winning a Drum Marketing Award for it), producing a TV series that launched new presenters, staging fashion shows and awards events, designing television graphics, creating PR stunts that landed national press coverage, photographing celebrities on red carpets and collaborating with influencers and well-known personalities to grow brand awareness.

Today, I work with both individuals and businesses who want to show up with confidence and personality. Whether we’re building a brand identity or creating photography that truly reflects who you are, my approach is collaborative, honest and grounded in real experience... not just trends.

And when I'm not working...

You’ll usually find me outdoors, down my garden - pottering in my greenhouse, growing everything from vegetables and cut flowers to tropical plants - including my giant gunnera, Gary.  I love camping, festivals and walking in forests or at my fave place in Leeds ‘Swan Lake’  I live in North Leeds with my partner Nick and our daughter, Fern. I’m a lifelong vegetarian who loves cooking food from around the world and hosting friends around our firepit!
